Kitchen Accent Lights.

I am finally getting around to explaining my kitchen accent lighting for the house.

I installed basic RGB nodes above and below my kitchen cabinets. The ones on the upper cabinets are mounted to a 1 X 2 that I ripped in half to have a 45 degree angle. This points the lights at the ceiling in such a way that it bounces and defuses nicely.

The lights under the cabinets and mounted all the way to the back against to wall. This casts most the light down along the back splash. I put regular white LED lights on the front of the cabinets to light up the work surfaces.

Once I new where I wanted all the LEDs then I started running the lines to control the lights. I mounted a small shelf in my laundry room, which shares a wall with the kithen, to hold the power supply and the DMX controller. For the RGB lights I used CAT 6 network cable and for the white under counter work lights I used in wall low voltage speaker wire. I used the CAT6 Mainly because I still have a large box of it and none of the lights will have a huge current draw so it will be more than sufficient. Plus by using network cable it allowed me to use standard network jacks and wall plates to keep things cleaner. This really helped clean up the installation. Plus if I even move or want to take them back out I can simply by paint-able cover plates and paint them to match the wall so they wont stand out.

Power Supply and control Board.
The controller is in a plastic tub to help keep the dust off of it.
